These patented products, presented as granules, are sourced from highly-porous volcanic rocks: the pumice stone.
These natural buoyancy and absorption characteristics enable the pumice stone to control hydrocarbon pollution in aquatic environments very effectively.
This new absorbent underwent absorption tests conducted by the CEDRE (French Centre for Documentation, Research and Experimentation on Accidental Water Pollution) and by the IFP (French Oil Institute) for product recycling.
Under the trade name ECOPOMEX, this new absorbent can be used for a wide range of applications:
– ports, rivers and lakes: to deal with iridescence and oil slicks
– open sea: for oil spills
– industrial locations: for use in filtration systems prior to discharge into the wastewater collecting systems.
Ecological and revolutionary, ECOPOMEX is also highly-efficient and practical to use.
Thanks to its excellent buoyancy it can be retrieved several weeks after installation and, as such, offers on-location operators more flexible work organization. Over time, the granules, even when totally saturated, do not leak and do not release the pollutant.
Another quality is that this absorbent can be reused. It can be recycled 6 times over and maintains all its qualities.
